Volunteering
Without our wonderful volunteers the PSA simply wouldn’t exist. We rely on voluntary support to run every aspect of the charity.
Volunteering can range from organising school events, running the Friday tuck shop to offering an hour to help steward a school disco.
Nothing is too small when it comes to helping!

Why volunteer?
Volunteering can be a great way to meet other parents/carers and can help build new skills and confidence. There are many reasons why people volunteer. See why our PSA volunteers below.

What does it involve?
Every event or activity is different, but ultimately you let us know what you can commit to. To find out more either have a chat with Laura or pop along to our next meeting. We would love to have you.

How to become a volunteer
For each event we will request volunteers via the event sign up forms. Additionally we welcome you to attend the next PSA meeting to discover all the ways in which you can assist and join the team.
Why we do it…
Laura
“I have always been passionate about supporting local communities and I can’t think of a greater cause than helping my children’s school. I have a lot of experience from previous job roles I feel I can apply to my role as chair and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Kate
“I started volunteering with the PSA because I wanted my younger daughter and her friends to experience the fun events my elder daughter enjoyed. It has been a really nice way to support the school and get to know other parents. My favourite thing to help with is the gift shops – the kids love choosing presents for their families. The discos and fairs are hectic but it’s great to see everyone have fun”
Jo
“I am involved in the PSA at Parkwood school because I believe working together can make a big difference in our children’s education. By being active in the PSA, I help create a supportive environment for our children. Many of the events and activities we organise wouldn’t happen without the help of parents. I encourage other parents to join us, as their participation brings new ideas and strengths.”

We understand it can be a bit daunting when you’re interested in getting involved, but you might not be ready to walk into a meeting. If you would prefer to contact us and have a little chat first, please contact us here.
