Have you ever thought about joining the PSA, but not quite sure what you would bring to the team? We bet you have a lot you could offer…even if you don’t quite know it!
We have a variety of skillsets with the PSA which our members use from either their previous or existing job roles, hobbies or just general life experience. Everyone has something to offer and that’s why the charity works!
We’re a bunch of parents, grandparents and carers who all want to support the school and make a positive impact on the children’s time at Parkwood Primary School.
Below Steve (one of our fantastic members) explains how he supports the school and how he is applying that wealth of knowledge to our benefit!
“Hi my name is Steve and I have been a volunteer at Parkwood School for over 7 years.
I started when the first of my local grandchildren started at the school. It has been very satisfying doing work around the school inside and out.
I have painted classrooms, dining halls. Cleaned out the numerous drains and gullies of leaves to reduce flooding, swept up huge sacks of leaves which never biodegrade like most do. I have checked and repaired items on the play equipment and have currently been PAT testing the electrical equipment for safe use.
The school provides me with a DBS certificate which allowed me, once checked by the Police to work with the children. The children and staff know me quite well now and I find it is a great use of my 40+ years of both electric and mechanical engineering practice in making the school a safe place.
Please be a volunteer as it is very enjoyable.
Steve”
